As a side project we developed with the help of Pete, Kevin, Ulises, Henry and Miguel a Solar Water Heating system at Casa Mimi. This system could be easily improved to displace electricity use within the community (the electric water heaters are rated at 4,500 W). This simple prototype incorporates a reflective dish around the existing Rotoplast water storage tank, syphons the hottest water from the top of the tank, and is covered by a thin layer of transparent plastic to retain heat.
